Dr. Kenneth A. Bollen

Bio:

Bollen is a leading expert in structural equation modeling (SEM). He has authored four books and numerous articles on the subject. His research has advanced the field through new estimators, fit statistics, and diagnostic tools for analyzing latent variables, measurement errors, and flexible longitudinal models. His contributions have earned him major honors, including the Psychometric Society’s Career Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Lazarsfeld Award for Distinguished Contributions to Sociological Methodology, and the Sells Award for Distinguished Multivariate Research. He also received an honorary doctorate from Uppsala University (Sweden), and Woxsen University (India) established the Kenneth A. Bollen Chaired Professorship in Structural Equation Models in his honor.

Bollen is an elected member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Statistical Association, and the Association for Psychological Science. His work has been funded by the NIH, NSF, USAID, and the John Templeton Foundation, among others. His books include Structural Equations with Latent Variables (1989), Latent Curve Models (with P. Curran, 2006), Elements of Structural Equation Models (forthcoming), and Testing Structural Equation Models (edited with J.S. Long, 1993).
