Dr. Irini Moustaki

Bio:

Irini Moustaki is a professor of Social Statistics in the Department of Statistics where she was awarded her PhD in 1996. Her main research interests are latent variable models, structural equation models, analysis of categorical data, methods of estimation, goodness-of-fit, detection of outliers and missing values.

She has co-authored books on latent variable models and multivariate data analysis, published many methodological and applied papers and served as an associate d editor ad editorial member for a number of journals including Psychometrika, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Structural Equation Modelling and the Journal of Educational and Behavioural Statistics. She is currently associate editor for the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series A, Metrika and Structural Equation Modeling. She has taught postgraduate courses on multivariate analysis, multilevel modelling and sampling methods designed for statistics and social science students and run professional short courses in UK and abroad.

She has been twice a member of the committee for evaluating research output of Italian Universities and a member of the Technical Advisory Group of the PIAAC project I and II (Program for the International Assessment of Adult competencies) of the OECD. She is currently a member of the Technical Executive Group of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA).

She received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Uppsala University in 2014 and she has been an Honorary Professor in the Department of Psychological Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong, July 2015 to July 2018. She elected the Executive Editor of the journal Psychometrika from November 2014 to December 2018.
