Dr. Sy-Miin Chow

Bio:

Dr. Sy‑Miin Chow is a full professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State University and a leader in developing cutting‑edge methods for modeling how people change over time, with expertise in dynamic systems, time‑series, and intensive longitudinal data—from mobile assessments to wearable sensors. She has published extensively on state‑space models, regime‑switching techniques, vector autoregression, and Bayesian estimation, applying her methods to domains like emotion regulation, health behavior, and developmental processes. Among her honors, she received the Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychology (SMEP) early career award, served as President of the SMEP in 2023, and earned early career recognition from the Psychometric Society. She has also held a prestigious fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and served as associate editor for leading journals such as Psychological Methods and Psychometrika.
