2018 SMEP Annual Meeting
The 2018 SMEP Annual Meeting will be held October 10-13 at the Embassy Suites Hotel Albuquerque in downtown Albuquerque (address: 1000 Woodward Place NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102; phone 505-245-7100).
If you will be attending the 2018 SMEP meeting, please complete this brief two-item survey for you and your requested guests to help us get an accurate head count for the meeting and social events. As a reminder, the SMEP guest policy is available here.
Meeting Dates and Times: There will be an optional evening reception Wednesday, October 10. The meeting program will begin the morning of Thursday, October 11 and continue through the banquet dinner on Saturday, October 13, 6:00-9:00 pm (business casual dress).
Meeting and Event Locations: Meeting talks will be held in the Sandia Ballrooms IV-V while the receptions and evening poster sessions will be in Sandia VI-VIII which are all the ground level. Embassy Suites offers complimentary cooked to order breakfasts for all guests and we’ll have continental options, breaks, and lunches will be provided as usual. Our local arrangements chair is Todd Little.
Note: we are overlapping with the final days of the bucket-list-worthy Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. If you are interested in participating in any of these events, we will be arranging group admissions. Please email Todd Little with your desired activity.
Note: Book your room early! Hotel space in Albuquerque will fill up completely during the Balloon Fiesta. Our room block will fill up and you may not get a room if you wait! Remember, it’s easy to cancel a room or a room night if you book early, but it is nearly impossible to find a room if you wait too long!!!!
Hotel Reservations and Amenities: SMEP members and their guests can make reservations at the conference hotel by going to this link or calling the reservations department at 505-245-7100 and ask for the “SMEP Conference 2018” room block to get the group rate of $219.00 for a Single or Double room, $229.00 for a Triple and $239.00 for a quad.
Please note that if you do not see the type of room you want, or if you wish to stay for additional nights before or after the conference, you will need to call the hotel directly to make your reservation. If the online system tells you no rooms are available, please call the hotel instead. Ask for the conference rate by name “SMEP Conference 2018”. SMEP has established a pre-negotiated hotel rate which are valid Wednesday through Sunday of the meeting. You must make your reservation by Monday, September 10, 2018 to ensure a room in our block (but our block may sell out!!! So book early!). Rooms includes wifi access and breakfust but does not include other meals, tax, incidentals, or overnight parking. Individual reservations may be cancelled before 3:00pm 24 hours prior to the day of arrival. If you encounter any difficulties, the hotel contact for the SMEP conference is Ashlee Coleman (Convention Services Manager). You can reach Ashlee directly via email (preferred) or by phone at 505-252-5368. The hotel's amenities include numerous 15% off Spa Botanicals visits as well as a heated pool and fitness center.
Travel to the Hotel: Uber or Lyft are your best options of getting from the airport to the hotel.
Hotel Surrounding Area: The hotel is close to Old Town, Downtown, and Nob Hill. Bus service in the evening on a circuit will also be provided.
