  1. Take a rapid COVID test daily and not attend the meeting or events in person if the test result is positive
  2. Wear KN-95/N95/FFP2/KF-94 face masks (covering the mouth and nose) during all conference events that are indoors, including the main meeting room, poster and reception rooms, and adjoining hallways to the meeting room. There are two exceptions to this policy:
  • While speaking when providing a presentation
  • When eating or drinking

2022 SMEP Graduate Student Conference

Note: The deadline has been extended only for students who presented last year (August 29th).

The 20th Annual Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychology (SMEP) Graduate Student Conference will be held in Monterey, CA, from October 12 – 16, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency. Graduate students are invited to submit proposals for posters presenting original research on the development or evaluation of quantitative methods related to psychology and/or the rigorous application of advanced methods to provide novel insights into substantive questions. Proposals representing the application of advanced quantitative methods to new content areas or that study less common methodological topics are especially encouraged.

Eligibility, Review Process, and Travel Funds

Applications must have the written approval of an active SMEP member. Applicants must still be graduate students at the time of submission. Students who presented in 2021 are  eligible to present this year (new! as of August 15th). Preference will be given to those who have not previously presented. A committee of previous student presenters will select up to 20 proposals for presentation. Evaluations will be based on (1) overall quality, (2) overall fit of the proposal with the stated interests of SMEP, and (3) the project’s innovation. In addition, the reviewers seek to achieve a variety of topics and institutions represented in the selected presenters.

Selected presenters will be invited to attend the annual SMEP meeting as observers and present their poster at the Graduate Student session. In the event of multiple student co‐authors, only the first author will be invited to SMEP. Selected presenters will be invited to attend the SMEP Annual Meeting and awarded a travel fund of up to $2,000.
